The Big Hitters...

Michelle Williams We break the dawn
“We break the dawn” is the brand new single from Michelle Williams, taken from her forthcoming album “Unexpected”. Back with a new sound, the former Destiny’s Childer has given the gospel side of music a rest in an attempt to find success on the R&B side of things. The new single, set to be released on September 22nd, has a very laidback, chillaxed feel to it and showcases Michelle’s beautiful vocal range (which seems to have expanded since her DC days). However, if you’re looking for something to move your feet to then DJ Montay’s remix of the track might be more up your street. Featuring some lyrical content from Flo Rida, this mix definitely takes the track to a next level.
23 Deluxe ft. Daniel Joe Show me happiness
“Show me happiness” is the first release from London-based collaboration 23 Deluxe. Recently released on August 8th, this funky fresh spin on K-Ci and JoJo’s “tell me it’s real” features the vocal talents of Daniel Joe. A definite one to get you moving, this track looks set to be the summer bassline anthem for 2008. Make sure you also keep an eye out for the DJ NG remix which is due to be digitally released on August 25th.
Jazmine Sullivan Need you bad
“Need you bad” is the debut singer from new Philadelphia-born singer Jazmine Sullivan. Taken from her album “Fearless”, the songstress, whose voice has been compared to the legendary Lauryn Hill, beautifully portrays her vocal ability on this reggae-influenced track. Partly produced by Missy Elliott and with Sullivan’s input on the lyrical content, this is not your typical love song. Instead it portrays a true expression of a young girl’s heart, minus all the cheesy connotations. With its download release on August 18th, this track definitely has the potential to be a big hit on the UK charts.
John Legend ft. Andre 3000 Green light
It’s been a while since we last heard from him but it looks like Grammy-award winner John Legend is back! “Green light” is the first single to be released, taken from the forthcoming album “Evolver”. Legend takes a different approach on this record compared to his earlier hits such as “used to love you”. With its electro-pop twist and catchy hooks, complimented with some slick rhymes from Andre 3000, this musical turn just might’ve been the right decision for John!
Suga Rush Beat Company They said I said
“They said I said” is the perfect ingredient to any recipe for a girls’ night in this summer. Taken from the Suga Rush Beat Company’s self-titled debut album, this track is to be the next single from the 3-part collective. The group are known for their unique sound, which has been described as “soul-rock”, and this hot track lives right up to standards. With its sugar-coated melody, infectious hook and sing along vibes, this single looks as though it could be a real hit amongst the youngsters (especially the girls)!
